I am still every age that I have been. Because I was once a child, I am always a child. Because I was once a searching adolescent, given to moods and ecstasies, these are still part of me, and always will be… This does not mean that I ought to be trapped or enclosed in any of these ages…the delayed adolescent, the childish adult, but that they are in me to be drawn on; to forget is a form of suicide… Far too many people misunderstand what “putting away childish things” means, and think that forgetting what it is like to think and feel and touch and smell and taste and see and hear like a three-year-old or a thirteen-year-old or a twenty-three-year-old means being grownup.

HOW TO FEEL FULFILLED AS AN ARTIST THERAPIST

1. NEVER COMPARE YOURSELF TO OTHER ARTISTS THERAPISTS.

2. KNOW THAT YOUR FAMILY IS BIASED. WHETHER FOR OR AGAINST, THEIR VIEWS ARE SKEWED AND DO NOT REPRESENT AN ACCURATE REFLECTION OF YOUR WORK IN THE WORLD.

3. BASE YOUR SUCCESS ON HOW YOUR ART

Oh no. An actual heartbreaker. Never meet his gaze, young lady, or you will instantly be turned thirty-one and unmarriageable.

TeeHee - So, for this year, I’d been thinking about turning this blog into an homage to the pigeon. Regular reblogs, appropriate snorts and vacuous responses, you know the drill. Then I had a better idea: Get Others On His Tail! (Yeah, I know - so creffer. Lemme alone.) Go on, now. Shake a feather!

It’s rather like a baseball except for much larger, and with stippled leather and with considerably robust stitching, and quite dark in color, and pointy at the ends instead of all the way round. Oh, it’s a wonderful ball and I should quite like you to see it.

…And this is why we heart the pigeon.

Kris Payne: the phrase "it is what it is" is basically the entire collective of humanity giving up in five words and accepting...

krispayne:

We don’t go to space anymore.

“Discounts” are covered up by new taxes and/or fees.

A protest because of fiscal inequality was just a bunch of people who ended up not going to work for a few months and then left all their garbage and graffiti behind. Nothing changed because of their actions.

Also, ‘what-ev-ah!’ Grr…!

quote
If you’re afraid you can’t write, the answer is to write. Every sentence you construct adds weight to the balance pan. If you’re afraid of what other people will think of your efforts, don’t show them until you write your way beyond your fear. If writing a book is impossible, write a chapter. If writing a chapter is impossible, write a page. If writing a page is impossible, write a paragraph. If writing a paragraph is impossible, write a sentence. If writing even a sentence is impossible, write a word and teach yourself everything there is to know about that word and then write another, connected word and see where their connection leads. A page a day is a book a year.

Though I’m sick of writing right now, this reminder rings true. 17K in six weeks, folks - totally going to kill this!

Fun Size Bytes (from @Tj): "There's someone here who would like to see you…"

tj:

My office is downtown — well, as much as there is a “downtown” here — and we occasionally get people who stop in looking for “help.”

More often we get people who call looking for help. They are going through the phone book, trying one after another. We have a small fund in our annual budget for…

This is lovely. So respectful, beautifully understanding and humane. Thank you, TJ, indeed! (and Leah, for sharing.)
